Term ending 3 April
Mrs Wright’s update
9.3 French
The first half of the term the pupils worked hard on the topic of the future tense. The pupils practised the future tense by working on several writing, reading, speaking and listening tasks. After a few weeks most pupils were able to describe what they were going to do at the weekend using a variety of expressions. The hard work paid off as many pupils managed to reach level 5 in the final assessments. Well done! Then we spent several lessons learning vocabulary about films and opinions. It gave the class a chance to discuss in French what types of films they liked and disliked making references to past and current films. We have started working on parts of the body, which will lead to more in depth vocabulary about illnesses after Easter. On Monday 30 March, the pupils had the opportunity to go to the computer suite and do fun online activities on parts of the body using the languagesonline website. We will carry on working hard next term but in the meantime, everyone should have a well deserved rest over Easter. JOYEUSES PAQUES!
9.3 Spanish
This term the pupils used their knowledge of months of the year and numbers up to 31 to practise saying their date of birth. We had further practice of the topic by doing tasks on linguascope.com in the computer suite. After spending a couple of lessons on days of the week the class was given a written test covering all the topics learnt so far and everyone reached level 2, which is the level expected by all pupils in the class. We went on learning the topics of countries and nationalities and eventually everyone was able to say which country they came from and which nationality they were. The next topic was about family and how to say how many brothers and sisters the pupils had. We spent the last lesson of Spanish in the computer suite revising topics learnt this term using linguascope. FELIZ SEMANA SANTA!
7.1
The class has worked hard this term and we have covered a large range of topics including countries, nationalities, family, pets, physical description and character. Now all pupils are capable of giving information about them selves using a good range of expressions. The highlight of this term was about writing to French pen friends in the Ile d’Oleron. We wrote the first letter on 27 January using all our knowledge of French so far. When we received the replies from our French friends the whole class was hugely excited and the enthusiasm shown by everyone was a real treat for me. We have written our second letter using the new expressions learnt recently and we have also used pictures of our town that the children have either cut out from brochures or printed from the internet, including pictures of themselves and their pets. To conclude this terms work we went to the computer suite on Tuesday 31 March and revised several topics learnt in module 2. Pupils could use linguascope.com during the holidays to practise the work done this term. In the meantime - JOYEUSES PAQUES!
